两百多封来自古巴的家书，成了作者研究古巴华侨历史的契机。本书以两个香港家庭的家族史，叙说华侨在外的艰辛与在乡眷属经历的诸种考验，为古巴华侨在历史上留下一点痕迹。 The past and modern fate of overseas Chinese has never been plain-sailing. Among them, Cuban ethnic Chinese has a rich history which had even influenced China's overseas-Chinese policy since the late Qing Dynasty. But yet after the Cuban Revolution in 1959, this society began to decline. With this background, this book records two true stories to preserve the once-shining experience of this group in history. | |||
作者简介Author Introduction | |||
雷竞璇曾任教香港中文大学及城市大学，研究十余年，主攻政治、历史。他先后在利希慎基金会、香港政府中央政策组任职，并担任自由撰稿人，现为中文大学香港亚太研究所名誉研究员。由于祖父、父亲曾在古巴谋生，最近专研古巴华侨历史，四次前往该地考察及收集资料，并已出版《远在古巴》、《末路遗民：古巴华侨访谈录》、《十九世纪古巴华工》等书籍。另正与中文大学图书馆合作，成立「古巴华侨数码档案库」。 Louie Kin-sheun had taught and researched in The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong for more than a decade, specified in politics and history. He then became a freelance writer and had served in the Lee Hysan Foundation and the Central Policy Unit of the Hong Kong Government. He is now an honorary researcher at the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, The Chinese University. Influenced by the business of his father and grandfather in Cuba, Louie has recently shifted his research area to Cuban ethnic Chinese history. He had conducted site visit to Cuba four times for research. His recent publications include Far Away in Cuba (in Chinese), Remains of the End: Interviews with Overseas Chinese in Cuba (in Chinese), Chinese Cuban Workers in the Nineteenth Century (in Chinese), etc. He is now working with the Library of The Chinese University to establish the Cuban Overseas Chinese Digital Archive. | |||
